Medical Abortion Pill Experience: What to Expect After Mifeprex

Question
Hi, could you please provide me some insight? I am about 6 weeks pregnant and it has been about 47 days since my last cycle. I thought I wanted to do the medical abortion by pills so I took the first pill, Mifeprex. I took it on Saturday 01/01/11 and today is Monday, 01/03/11. I have not been spotting or bleeding of any sort, no bad cramping, only a slight or mild pain here or there but I was having the same pains before I took this pill and I remember that when I was pregnant with my first son I was told by my doctor that it is common because of your uterus growing. I still have all the symptoms of pregnancy, hunger, sleeping for hours, tender breasts, etc. I have decided not to continue the abortion and want to know if there is still any hope that I can continue this pregnancy and have a healthy baby. Still no bleeding or cramping. I am trying to get to my Ob/GYN asap. What do you suggest she does?

Answer
Hi Colby,

That is a great question and you've done the right thing by getting an appointment. What you'll need is an ultrasound to tell what's going on. Generally you'd know if you lost the pregnancy because there would usually be bleeding. I can't tell you for sure but get an ultrasound. Good luck on your pregnancy.
