Post-Abortion Bleeding & Restarting Birth Control: What to Expect

Question
Pat G, I took the abortion pill about 2 months ago, I am still bleeding with the occasional random "blood explosions" I have no idea when this will end. I know now it can take a couple months, which makes me sad. I want to start taking Oral Contraceptives again, but I have no idea when to start them, because I am unsure of when my period is actually beginning. Can you help?

A.

Answer
Hello, Amanda,

This long-term bleeding is actually very harmful, and needs attention. In fact, it is one of the major ways these poisonous pills kill women. It needs to be stopped. You should immediately start taking cayenne a couple of times a day. This is red hot peppers, and you can get it at a health food store. You should get in to see a doctor about stopping the bleeding as well, as soon as you can.

If you are not married, there is no reason to be taking oral contraceptives. It is not in your best interests to be having sex anyway. It puts you at risk of unwanted pregnancy, so that you live in fear of pregnancy all the time, and obviously, oral contraceptives didn't prevent your pregnancy in the past. You can also get a sexually transmitted disease, and you can get this if your partner has ever had sex with anyone else before, even if he hasn't told you about it. He is taking advantage of your body, and putting you at risk, needlessly. And oral contraceptives make it MORE likely you will actually get an STD, because it makes your body more receptive. This applies also to HIV. Condoms aren't helpful, because the diameter of the HIV virus is only 1/50 of the diameter of naturally occurring holes in condoms. Have a talk with your boyfriend. If he isn't willing to respect your body and your integrity, you deserve someone better. Breaking up with him will be hard. Having sex with him caused you to form a bond with him. But I really do recommend that you insist either that he respects your body, or that you find someone else.

What part of Arizona do you live in?

Please take care, and let me know how you do.
