Body Massage Contraindications: Understanding Heart Conditions

  hope you can help me.im doing a presentation at college on Tuesday on contra indications.My specific contra indication is heart conditions.im struggling to find what type of heart conditions that could restrict a body massage.any ideas would be great.

The heart condition that comes to mind is Congenital Heart conditions. Congenital Heart basically is a person born with a heart condition. The challenge however is knowing if massage is OK. You can learn more about it by searching on the web about its condition. It's also important to have this question on an intake form, if they check yes. Contact their physician before conducting any type of massage.

Another lead would be hypertension. Massage can cause a brief increase in blood pressure, if the heart is already taxed by an ongoing struggle to keep blood pressure down this could be another contraindication.
