Transitioning Massage Therapists: Sharing Previous Therapist Info

Question
I've been getting massages for many years. I recently moved and now having to look of a new therapist. When going to a new therapist, is it a good idea to give them the contact information of the last one in the case they would like it as a reference?

Answer
In this answer, CMT = Certified Massage Therapist

Thank you for your question. In most cases, and in my experience, most CMT's do not contact your prior massage therapist before working on you. If you have any conditions that are critical such as disease, chronic injury where you have needed hospitalization, or unusual illnesses then by all means please have your current CMT contact your prior one :-)

In most cases CMT's will have you fill out an "intake" form as well as sit down with you and talk to you before the session.
If your CMT does NOT do either one of these things, find a different CMT who has more time for you :-)

Be as honest with your CMT on the "intake" form as possible and if you have any questions at ALL, please ask your CMT before the session begins.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me again or go to my website which as a ton of education on it regarding massage therapy modalities !  :-)

Hope I helped you with your question.
