Questionhi claire,
I'm 25 but people say I look about 19-21 and I want it to
stay that way. I'm paranoid about aging and have been
thinking about a facial or microdermabrasion or laser
tightening or chemical peel...(plus i have some faint left-
over blackhead marks, and I'd like to achieve a nicer, more
even tone) I have no experience with these and was wondering
which (if any) would be best. Thanks.
AnswerHi there Brian, thanks for your question.
If I am being totally honest I'd recommend that you don't approach any of the treatments you have listed. Well not for at least another 5/10 years.
Unfortunately, it isn't possible to prevent aging with those treatments as they only really work once the skin has aged and the outer layer has become damaged.
Once this outer layer is visibly aged or damaged the treatments work by removing that top layer, either by pealing or abrasion or laser thus revealing the new younger and undamaged skin underneath.
However, because your skin is already so young and looks even younger, (you lucky thing) the best that can happen is you'll waist your money because you'll be removing young lovely skin just to reveal young lovely skin underneath!
What I would recommend to address your specific concerns though is sun block every single day and a good facial routine, which includes a good quality cleanser and moisturiser.
The sun is the main cause of skin damage and premature aging so avoid sun beds and never expose your skin to sunlight without having used sun block first.
Moisturisers offer the skin all it needs to remain supple.
You mention some marks from previous black-heads, I'm guessing this is more like open pores rather than pockmarks so again, I'd recommend being gentle with your skin, perhaps use one of the off-the-shelf exfoliaters or face scrubs you can buy from super-markets or chemists.
Just gently use one of these around the area and then pat dry with a towel. Don't stretch the skin or scrub at it too hard. The skin on the face is delicate and responds best to TLC.
I hope that helps,
Take care, bye for now, Claire
