The most beautiful faces around the world have one thing in common. Healthy and beautiful skin.
We use an array of skin care products for the face every day. A consistent routine is the key aspect in improving your skin tone. With the number of products we use every day, it starts to get confusing. The most common regimen is cleanse, tone, moisturize or CTM. The basic outline of a regimen is to clean the skin and then layer the products based on the consistency.
A skin care regimen is not that simple. Different people have different needs. There are a number of skin types like oily, dry, normal, combination and sensitive. You may face a few pitfalls along the way, but choosing the right products for you is a case of trial and error. Depending upon your skin type, the skincare regimen may need to be adjusted. Hence, a routine that can be personalized is necessary. You need to know the right way to use the skin care products. Here we delve into the order to use skin care products in the day.
Here is a quick guide to sequential daily skin care routine:
First, cleanse the face to remove all impurities from the skin. Unless you have very oily/acne prone skin, use mild cleansers. Harsh cleansers strip your skin of necessary oils and make it weak. Never try to replace your cleanser with soap as they act like detergent on your skin and strip it off its natural oils and clog up the pores.
Dip a cotton bud in the toner and apply it all over the face. You can use rose-water or any other toner .Its purpose is to tighten the skin pores. Try toners with less than 20% alcohol content if you have normal/combination skin types and if you have acne prone skin type, go for higher alcohol content like 20-60%.
3. Apply Any Topical Treatment:
If you have acne or other skin conditions, apply the topical treatment onto the clean face and wait for it to dry.
Apply an under eye gel to keep the eye area nourished. Apply them with your ring finger as they are lightest in touch. Wait for it to dry before moving onto the next step. The under eye product should be nourishing to keep the under eye area hydrated.
Apply the serum before moisturizer. This is because serums are more concentrated and need time to penetrate into the skin. They may also dry your skin, so moisturizing it maybe a necessity. Serums protect your skin from age related damage. Avoid vitamin-C serums during the day, as they may cause a flare-up on sun exposure.
Apply a moisturizer suited to your skin type. Applying it last helps to lock in the active ingredients and makes the treatments more effective. People with dry skin should use water based products while those with oily skin should opt for thick and oil based products. Here are our other excellent articles on dry skin care and oily skin care.
Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you go out. This time is needed for the proper absorption of the sunscreen. Sun damage is going to wreak havoc on your skin if you do not take care of it in your youth.
After this, you can move onto your daily makeup routine.
This is the right way to use skin care products in day! For additional care, include a scrub into the regimen, Once a Week, after the cleansing is done. Follow it up with a face pack before moving onto the topical treatments. Taking care of your skin on a daily basis can improve its quality exponentially. Consistency is the key to beautiful skin.
