Selecting good beauty products is often not enough to get maximum efficiency. The way we use them and even the order in which we use them can also greatly affect their overall performance. Make sure to use them as intended to be able to get better results easier.
In the area of beauty and skin care, opinions are very divided
when it comes to what's necessary, how much you should spend on
beauty products or even how effective certain so called miracle
ingredients really are. However, no matter how you approach beauty
care, the importance of using beauty products efficiently is more
than obvious. With so many constantly changing beauty rules, it can
be hard to keep up with everything and mistakes can easily occur.
Let's shed some light as to how beauty products are supposed to be
used:
Sunscreen
To understand how to make the most out of sunscreen it's important
to analyze the way their efficiency is tested. Sunscreens are
tested by being applied on bare face, so it becomes obvious that
you should not wait to apply makeup to do it. A moisturizer with SPF
is one of the best choices if maximum protection is desired.
However, if you also use serums, they should be applied before
applying sunscreen.
Eye Cream
If you chose to use a separate cream for the delicate eye area,
make sure it is the first thing that touches your clean face.
That's because waiting more might cause smearing problems,
especially if you apply makeup right afterwards. Apply it gently
using your ring finger and make sure it is properly absorbed before
applying anything else.
Facial masks
While most women are well aware of the fact that facials should be
applied on perfectly clean skin, the right sequence of steps is
often unclear. To really boost the efficiency of facials you might want to
consider exfoliating first. If you decide to skip this step, apply
it after makeup removal and before applying a facial toner. Also,
skipping serum is not a bad idea if you plan on using a facial.
Acne Treatment Products
The type of acne treatment product is the one that dictates when it
should be used. If you use an acne cream, it should be applied 20
minutes before applying moisturizer. On the other hand, if the
product is designed as spot treatment, there are
several ways in which they can be used. Some can be used overnight,
while others are meant to camouflage zits. If you are struggling
with acne, make sure you pay extra
attention to all the products you put on your face.
Self tanner
If you want a sun kissed look, using sunless tanners makes perfect
sense. To ensure the best results, make sure the skin is exfoliated
and well moisturized before applying it. This will reduce the
chance of getting streaks. If you plan on applying makeup after
using sunless tanners, it is a good idea to wait at least 15
minutes to do so.
Anti aging creams
When it comes to anti aging creams things are a little simpler. We
know that we are not supposed to use antioxidant enriched cream
during the day because the sun damages them and makes them
ineffective. When it comes to retinol based creams much of the same
rules apply as retinol can increase sun sensitivity. However, if
you also use serums in addition to moisturizing night creams, you
might not know which one goes first. Well, that depends. Serums are
generally applied before cream to be able to penetrate the skin
better. However, if the serum is used as fillers, they should be
applied after the night cream has been properly absorbed.
