These days I am very interested in newspaper texturing. Recently I saw one done by Robin Moses. And after the popularity of the movie “The Memoirs of Geisha”, their lovely faces have definitely not left my mind! However, I am going to share with you my version which is simpler than what Robin Moses did with the geisha doll and the blossom newspaper. You can do this Newspaper nail art at home easily.
Start with a base coat and then apply Hong Kong and Victoria by Tips and Toes and half and half on all nails except the middle one. On the middle finger use half matte white ( I am using Gaits No. 25) and half swipe Victoria from sides to bottom.
Use a sponge and sponge up all the Hong Kong Pink Part with glitter silver polish. I am using the glitter silver one from Revlon Street Wear. Leave the middle finger nail as it is.
Cut out strips of newspaper, use a deo spray on the Victoria Portions of all the nails (also on the side, swiping part leaving the white portion alone on middle finger) and wet the newspaper strips one by one using deodorant. Then wrap around each nail and carefully take the print out with a rolling motion and slight pressure with the other hand’s thumb. Pull out gently.
Use a nail art brush and draw some twigs with black polish, and then some small uneven flowers with dark red or maroon polish.
On the white part of the middle finger ( Robin Moses painted a Geisha doll) I have taken the picture of a girl’s face by stamping from Image plate no M4. After that I have done some detailing, with my nail art brush and black color (elle18 black), added 2 dots of light and dark pink with the end of a toothpick on to the hair to make a flower with a tiny dot in center. The dress is made with black, golden and red colors. And yes, I have also colored the lips red carefully with the nail art brush. This is what i like to call the geisha doll nail.
This is how it looks without top coat.
Finish with a top coat to protect your design.
Note: Some pictures are taken with flash and some without, so you may notice some difference. geisha doll nail art looks even more beautiful on long nails; sadly my nails aren’t that long now.
