Makeup for Round Faces: Expert Tips & Techniques

Makeup for Round Faces: Expert Tips & Techniques

A couple of years ago, I had an intense debate with a friend about makeup for a round face. We came to the conclusion that it is all in the application. Here are a few things you should know about putting on makeup for a round face. Read on.

Wear With Light Colors: Just like when wearing heavy makeup, you want to wear light makeup to avoid making your face look much larger. The rule of thumb is to wear lighter colors. These means don’t wear black or dark blue eyeshadow. If you do, your eyes will appear as though they are much smaller. Wear pale colors on your face as well, such as yellow and pink.

Apply Powder: Just like the light makeup rule, you want to wear light powder to avoid making your face appear much larger. If you have lighter skin, use light colors on your face and eyes. For dark-skinned people, use darker colors, but apply them lightly.

Wear Neutral Colors: Neutral colors, like cream, are good colors to wear. Choose one neutral color for your entire face. You can also wear three different neutral colors. For example, if you have dark skin, wear one neutral color for your cheeks, and another neutral color for your forehead, and another neutral color for your nose. Use these neutral colors every day, and they will help keep your skin from looking blotchy.

Apply Foundation: The makeup you wear is important, so make sure you apply it correctly. The rule of thumb for makeup for round face is to apply a light coverage foundation, which will make your face appear slightly larger. Then, wear either a medium coverage foundation or something lighter to cover your blemishes and any makeup lines. To highlight your cheekbones, use a blush or bronzer. Do this once or twice a week. Follow up with a concealer to hide any blemishes.

Do not wear high coverage foundation or blush: Apply a very light foundation at first, to make your face appear slightly larger. You can even use concealer to achieve the same effect.

For Eyes

Put in some eye shadow: When you’re applying your makeup, make sure you wear a dark eye shadow. If you choose to wear a light or medium colored eye shadow, the only difference is that the darker shadow will stick out and give your eyes the appearance of being smaller. Apply a finishing powder over your eyeliner and mascara to remove any excess powder. Then, go back over your eye shadow with your makeup brush.

Apply Blush: Blush should be worn every day. As a matter of fact, the only time you should not wear blush is when you’re going to bed because the oil in your cheeks can make your skin appear dull and thin. Just remember to make sure you only use a light shade for daytime and a darker shade for the evening.

Apply Mascara: Make sure you wear mascara for the most part. It’s important to get your lashes just right to make your eyes appear just a bit longer.

Buy An Eye Pencil: If you have some kind of eye-shaped problem with your eyes, such as bags, your eyes will look too big when you wear eyeshadow. It’s a good idea to buy an eye pencil that has a very soft brush. Or, if you feel that you need to use a darker shade for the eyes, then buy a darker eyeshadow color. For eyeliner, you can use either a black liner or a brown liner.

Wear Lip Gloss: While you are applying lipstick, apply lip gloss. It’s a great way to add color to your lips. This is especially true if you are going to go out for the night, as it will give you a more subtle look.

If you have a darker skin tone, then put on a light foundation, and if you have a light skin tone, then you may want to wear a medium foundation. and tone it down with powder.
