How to Achieve Subtle & Sultry Eyes: A Makeup Tutorial

While we all love makeup, one of the features that most girls love to highlight and accentuate while wearing makeup is the eyes. Not all of us have similar eyes, but there are certain eye makeup techniques that look great on almost all shapes and sizes of eyes. While the smokey eye look is clearly one of the most popular and most worn eye makeup look of the past seasons, another great eye makeup look is creating eyes that look subtle and sultry at the same time. This is a great way to add some depth to your eyes, while keeping it simple and elegant.

For this eye makeup tutorial, the look that has been created is a combination of being very subtle, yet sultry. The main shades that have been used here are a coppery taupe eye shadow and a coppery red eye shadow.

Products used:

1. Concealer for concealing the dark circles and spots under the eyes

2. Eye shadow primer for application on the eyelids. The primer will help hold your eye shadow for longer without letting it crease. It will also bring out the colours better than when you use them without a primer (if you don’t want to use an eye shadow primer, you may use the same concealer as above and apply it as a base under the eye shadow.)

3. Take any eye shadows in 4 different colors which will complement your skin tone

4. Eye liner, kajal and mascara (for those of you who are not comfortable wearing an eye liner for any reason, or have allergic reactions, you can use the kajal in place of the eye liner.)

5. Eye makeup brushes and tools that will help you finish the look. You will need an eye shadow brush for applying the shade, an eye shadow blending brush to blend in the colour, an eye pencil brush and an eyelash curler.

Steps for Subtle yet sultry look Eye Makeup:

• Start by concealing under eye circles and patches. Prime your lids.
• Apply a coppery-taupe eye shadow (shade-1) on the inner 2/3^rd area. Here we have used the upper-right color from the Maybelline Expert Wear eye shadows – Time for Wine quad.
• Apply the coppery red eye shadow (shade-2) on the outer 1/3^rd area. Blend it with the first color on the crease. Here we have used the lower-left shade from the Lakme Eye shadow quartet – Tanjore Rush.

• Apply a nude color on the brow-bone to make the area look neat. We have used the upper-left color from the Maybelline Expert Wear eye shadows – Time for Wine quad.

• Apply a light, shimmery eye shadow on the inner corner of the eye, using a pencil brush. We have used the lower-left color from the Maybelline Expert Wear eye shadows – Time for Wine quad. This will help in giving an illusion of wide-open eyes. This is especially useful if you have small eyes.

• Apply eyeliner. We have used Chambor Dazzle Eye Pencil – Black Dazzle.
• Curl eyelashes using an eyelash curler. We have used Vega Premium eyelash curler.
• Apply mascara. We have used Maybelline Colossal mascara.

• Apply kajal on the outer-2/3rd of the lower lash line. We have used Maybelline Colossal kajal.
