Are you losing hundreds of hair strands everyday because of your store bought chemical shampoo? Shampoos are widely used to cleanse hair, scalp and to remove the dead skin and excess oiliness. Most of the shampoos claim with a “Hair Repair formula” and etc to attract the customers easily. We do buy and use these shampoos and instantly they make our hair shiny and beautiful with their chemical or other silicon content which coats the hair like a plastic. But with regular use, it totally damages your original beautiful hair and all left is your lifeless dull hair. Leave your worries. You can make your own DIY hair shampoos using few natural ingredients. Let us check some interesting natural DIY shampoo recipes at home now.

DIY Shampoos

Mild Soap Nut Shampoo:

Don’t you think that a natural mild shampoo is better than the store bought one with countless chemicals? Why can’t you make it up with few soap nuts then? Next time when you shop, get some soap nuts from departmental stores or any herbal shops. Take few soap nuts and boil them in 3 cups of water. Simmer the stove and allow the water to boil until the mixture turns one third. Now drain out the thick serum and take out the soap nuts. This serum can be used as your natural homemade shampoo to cleanse out the dirt, excess oil and dead scalp cells. Even though this would not lather much as the shampoos we buy from stores, this does a good job in cleansing hair and scalp. Keep in mind, if you have dry scalp mix a teaspoon of coconut oil to this shampoo before using.

Baking Soda Dandruff Shampoo:

Do you feel lazy about a long procedure in shampoo making? Then this one is for you. Dilute any baby shampoo in 1/3 of water and add required baking soda to this solution. Mix well to form a cream consistency and your homemade shampoo is ready for use in 2 minutes! Baking soda is very effective in exfoliating the dead skin from scalp and it also removes dandruff and dirt. The baby shampoo is added for just the lathering effect however you can avoid it if you are okay with this non lathering but yet natural shampoo.

Homemade Hair fall Control Shampoo:

This might be a long procedure, but the shampoo is worth every drop. Soak a hand full of henna, amla, hibiscus leaves and lemon peels in water overnight. In the morning, bring this water mixture to a boil and keep on boiling until it shrinks into a thick serum. Filter the serum and add a teaspoon of soap nut powder and a teaspoon of jojoba oil to it. Blend the mixture well to form a creamy paste and your DIY herbal shampoo is ready for use now! This can be used on your hair and scalp everyday to cleanse thoroughly and prevent hair loss.

Tips to Remember:

  • As these homemade shampoo recipes are made without any preservatives, they should be prepared and used freshly every time.
  • While making your shampoo, go for moderately thick oils like coconut oil if you have dry hair and jojoba oil for oily hair types.
