Obesity
Overeating will make you obese! That's the first side effect of overeating. Some binge eaters are absolutely fit despite their overeating problem. This can be attributed to the high rate of metabolism they possess. But most of the binge eaters tend to become obese over a period of time. Obesity has a list of side effects attached to it: cancer, Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnoea, arthritis etc.
Malnutrition
If you don't become obese, overeating might make you a sufferer of malnutrition. If you are overeating, you would be indulging in foods that are low on nutrition like chips, soda etc. It's unhealthy and, you don't really get the vitamins and minerals needed. With nutritional deficiencies, you are bound to fall ill and succumb to the side effects of malnutrition.
Depression
If you have been overeating, you would be facing pangs of depression off and on. You would be depressed and expressing guilt over your inability to control your over-eating habit. You may also go through emotions that are effects of depression, i.e. guilt, insomnia, heartfelt sadness and worthlessness. You would have suicidal tendencies too many a times. Sleep disorders are common with people who are depressed.
Anxiety In Social Situations
Many overweight people find themselves uncomfortable in social situations and functions. You would go low on your self-esteem and develop an inferiority complex that is difficult to get rid of.
Drug/Alcohol Abuse
That's the final and inevitable side effect of overeating. If depressed, guilt and anxiety overwhelms you, putting you in a tough spot. You may end up resorting to drugs and alcohol a bit too much thus leading to several other issues.
