You might not become ill when you are pregnant, but the reality is that there is a good chance you will. Remember that this is nine or rather ten months with an immune system that is compromised. So when you are pregnant, in order that your body does not reject the embryo, it lowers its immune system. So you must take care of yourself.
Taking care of your body and health whilst pregnant might mean participating in new healthcare regimes and different exercises. When I was pregnant for the first time, I didn't do much exercise which was a big mistake. I saw some of my friends working out right up until they gave birth and they honestly dropped their baby weight in a flash! It made me want to do things differently.
Pilates and yoga are great exercise for pregnancy and keeping your body in good shape for labour and postpartum health. If you like to workout, then talk to your primary health carer about continuing with a workout program whilst pregnant and how you can adapt it for each trimester.
It's true that regular exercise can help prevent us getting sick, but what about other things that can help? This is when acupuncture and massage therapy can come into play. I always recommend regular acupuncture appointments when women are pregnant. Acupuncture is 100% safe for pregnant women and can not only support you with morning sickness and pain but it can also help you stay well. It's similar for massage, this is another great way to help aches and pains without taking any medication.
Worth pointing out too that both acupuncture and massage can help tip the body into a natural state of induction. Start with cervical ripening at 37 weeks and hopefully you won't go long overdue! Acupuncture can also help turn breech babies by using moxa sticks which is rolled mugwort, ask your carer if she has heard of it!
