Pies date back to the Egyptians and the Greeks. How they ate pie then is not clear; but pies played a part in rejoicing. Through history, countless times kings and queens ate pie with a flare. Today, we traditionally serve pie for all occasions. To eat a pie properly, follow these steps.
Let the pie cool to room temperature before slicing. Not waiting will cause it to crumble and look messy. Don't lick your fingers between each served piece.
Count how many guests you have to serve the pie. Based on the amount of pieces needed, slice the pie accordingly.
Place each slice of pie on a dessert plate.
Offer your guests vanilla ice cream or whipping cream with their piece of pie. Based on their answer, you may need to warm the pie in the microwave before serving it with vanilla ice cream--a la mode.
