Microfiber furniture has a stain-resistant ability, which makes it easy to clean. Many stains will easily come off microfiber, but stubborn stains such as permanent ink will require a more rigorous cleaning effort. Permanent marker stains can ruin furniture's appearance, but if you follow the right precautions, you can remove it with common items found around your household.
Apply a small amount of hand sanitizer in an inconspicuous area. Test in this area to ensure that the sanitizer will not discolor or stain the microfiber.
Place a dime-size amount of hand sanitizer on a washcloth.
Rub the hand sanitizer into the permanent marker stain.
Apply more hand sanitizer to the washcloth. Continue to apply it to the stain.
Rinse the area with warm water. Soak a washcloth in warm water and then wring the washcloth to remove excess water. Scrub on the area to remove the hand sanitizer.
Test the rubbing alcohol in a hidden area on the furniture. This will allow you to see whether the alcohol will harm the microfiber.
Soak a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol.
Blot the permanent marker stain with the rubbing alcohol.
Use a new cotton ball as the marker stain lifts off the furniture.
Rinse the rubbing alcohol off with a damp washcloth.
