Natural Coffee Maker Cleaning: A Simple Vinegar Solution

Clean your coffeemaker at least once a month to ensure a great-tasting cup of coffee every morning, and to keep it in good working condition for a long time. An inexpensive, easy and natural way to clean a coffeemaker involves the use of vinegar and water. The acidic vinegar gets rid of undesirable buildup, paving the way for your favorite morning wake-me-up.

  • Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water, then pour the mixture into your coffeemaker. Do not exceed the maximum quantity of water allowed for your coffeemaker.

  • Put in an empty filter, then turn on the coffeemaker.

  • About halfway through the brewing cycle, turn off the appliance and let it sit for 30 minutes.

  • Turn on the coffeemaker to finish the cleaning cycle.

  • Run several cycles of fresh water through the coffeemaker to eliminate any remaining vinegar.
