Effortless Glass Coffee Pot Cleaning: The White Vinegar Method

Coffee pots are often well utilized for making coffee, yet neglected when it comes to cleaning. Glass coffee pots become stained from being left on a coffeemaker's burner with little or no coffee in them, or from the residue that accumulates over time. White vinegar, as a cleaning agent, can restore your stained or dingy glass coffeepot to a shiny, sparkling vessel from which you will be proud to pour coffee.

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 cup of baking soda
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Sponge
  • Hot water
  • Soap
  • Dry lint-free towels
  • Large container

Quick Cleaning With Baking Soda and Vinegar

  • Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into the bottom of a dry, cool coffee pot.

  • Pour distilled white vinegar over the top of the baking soda, until the baking soda is covered with vinegar.

  • Allow the chemical reaction to take place between the vinegar and baking soda, and gently swirl the mixture around in the pot to remove any stains. Use a sponge to wipe down the inside surface of the pot.

  • Pour the cleaning mixture into the sink, and wash the coffee pot with hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a lint-free towel.

Removing Stubborn Stains

  • Fill the coffee pot with full strength distilled white vinegar.

  • Allow the vinegar to sit in the pot overnight.

  • Pour the vinegar into a clean container, and wash the coffee pot with hot water and soap.

  • Repeat steps 1 to 3, by re-using the vinegar from step 2, if the stains are not fully removed. This process can be repeated as many times as needed.
