Does your baby or toddler have sleep issues? Are you worried about your toddlers’ sleeping habits? Is your baby giving you sleepless nights? Well, an easy and fine infant sleep training program is all you need to give your baby a good night’s sleep.

If you are a parent, nobody knows it better than you that how tiring and distressing it is to get a newborn or toddler to sleep. Yes, it’s a hard nut to crack-they wake up several times during their sleep, cry and refuse to sleep, crawl out of their bed and there are many other things your little ones do instead of sleeping quietly at night. Sleep training is a sleep solution for toddlers, which includes easy and quick strategies and methods to get your baby into healthy sleep habits. Some toddlers settle down to sleep easily following their regular sleep routine but many others have problems sleeping at night and need help and guidance to develop healthy habits.

Is it the right time to sleep train your baby?

You just cannot put your newborn in the crib and say “it’s time to go to bed baby, sleep well”. A newborn requires frequent feedings and it’s absolutely normal and healthy for him/her to get a few hours sleep. Sit beside your baby, do not touch and talk and just comfort him from afar. Respond quickly to your baby’s cries.

Stages of developing a night sleep cycle

After a few weeks, you can begin to develop a daily bedtime routine to help your baby sooth to sleep at about the same time every night. Try to give him a warm bath, sing a lullaby, read a book, hold and cuddle him or do anything else that the baby enjoys. Make this schedule work consistently for 3-4 months. As the baby develops and matures you may need to make some adjustments in the daily routine.

By age of 3 or 4 months, infants start to wake up constantly between midnights. They start to show little anxiety on separation and leave most of their night feedings. And, somewhere around age of 5-6 months, they are ready for sleep training. However, provided that every baby has different habits, some may be ready for the training earlier and some may need to reach the age of 6-8 months.

Special advice for parents or sleep trainers

Remember, you cannot force your baby into sleeping. All you can do is to create a warm, soothing environment and help your baby establish a healthy and positive attitude about sleep. Here are some considerations that may help you when planning to sleep train your baby:

·         Understand your baby’s sleep needs-Know how often your baby feeds at night, for how many hours does the baby sleep, track how many times the baby wakes up through the night , create an ideal bedtime.

·         Make sure your baby doesn’t have any medical condition that affects his sleep.

·         Know where you baby sleeps best- is it his crib or in your bed, in your (parents) room

·         Get your baby use to a consistent daytime nap routine

·         Create a cool and calm environment to start sleep training.
