Exhausted with the daily struggle of getting your baby to sleep? Wish your child could sleep quietly through night? While some infants don’t have much problems sleeping, there are many sleep-deprived parents who have sleepless nights due to their infant’s sleep problems. Sleep is a natural phenomenon and you can’t force your baby into it. So how are you going to do it? If you are a parent, you must have you heard of baby sleep training. Yes, you can sleep train your baby and make him learn some good night habits with the help of varied baby sleep training tips.

Now having known or discovered about it, you would definitely want to give it a try. To help you make the stage for your baby to peacefully go to sleep and stay asleep throughout night, here are some dos and don’ts that you should keep in mind:

Don’t try to sleep train a newborn

The very first thing to remember when it comes to infant sleep training is do not try it on a newborn or a child younger than at least 3 months. Newborns usually wake up several times overnight, which doesn’t necessarily indicate they have some sleep issues but are hungry and may need feedings to sleep properly.

Do explore multiple sleep training techniques

Explore different methods and have alternatives before you give it a try as your toddler may not necessarily react well to the first method or technique you use on him/her. Different children have different sleep habits so the method that works well on one child may not help another.

Do establish a peaceful environment

Before you attempt to sleep train your baby make sure the environment in your child’s room or wherever he sleeps is peaceful in order to avoid any disturbance or chances of your child’s night waking

Do make a strong plan and stick to it

Make a suitable plan and make sure to stick to it. Sleep training your infant would be much easier and faster if you stay with the plan you’ve made. Include necessary changes in your baby’s sleep and feeding schedule before you get started with it and follow the same routine each day.

Don’t leave the baby alone in his room

Leaving your child to cry in his room in her crib until he falls asleep won’t be a good idea to do it. It is necessary for parents to check on their infants from time to time. Consider going into your child’s room in short intervals and comfort them to sleep.

Do have a support system

Sleep training a toddler could be a hard nut to crack. You got some infant sleep training tips and ideas from the internet and you think you are ready to get started. But wait, it ain’t going to be that easier. Sleep training may take a lot of effort and it would a good idea to have your spouse or your partner (friend or family member) there with you to support your throughout the process.
