Caffeine is a bitter, white crystallized drug. Caffeine generally found in seeds of coffee plants and leaves of tree bush. In humans, caffeine act a central nervous system stimulant, it temporarily prevent drowsiness and make us alert. Caffeine is the drug which is consumed widely around the world. Beverage containing caffeine such as tea, coffee and soft drinks are served in all over the world and people loved it. In North American 90% of adults take caffeine daily. Some energy drink contains caffeine ranges from 160mg to 4mg; even decaffeinated coffee is not completely caffeine free. Caffeine is also present in pain killers, cold medications, and diet pills. In fact, caffeine itself acts as a mild pain killer and increases the effectiveness of other pain reliever that we take. Caffeine is also present in various soft drinks and energy drinks.

1. Caffeine is addictive:

It is true to some point, as caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant so regular use of caffeine makes your body dependent on it. Other drugs may threaten your physical, social or economical health but caffeine doesn’t do so. If you take coffee more than two cups a day and you stop taking caffeine suddenly then the following symptoms are going to happen with you:

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Depressed

2. Caffeine causes Insomnia:

The body quickly absorbs and gets rid of caffeine quickly. The more you take coffee you deprive from sleep. If you take more than two cups of coffee, tea or green tea per day, then you feel alert throughout the day. Consuming caffeine after 8pm is definitely going to hinder your sleep. One person must sleep at least six hour sleep for a healthy mind and body, so avoid taking coffee later in day.

3. Caffeine is harmful for women trying to get Pregnant:

Many studies show there is no link between small amount of caffeine and cases like miscarriage, birth defects, trouble in conceiving, premature birth etc. If one take less than or equal to 200 mg caffeine per day it would not affect the pregnancy.

4. Caffeine has a dehydrating effect:

Caffeine can make you to urinate frequently. Studies show that caffeine act as a mild diuretic, but taking moderate amount of caffeine per day doesn’t cause dehydration.

5. Caffeine has no health benefits:

So all the coffee and black tea lovers, green tea is the best alternative if you are health conscious. Green tea also consist amino acids which have calming effects on your concentration. Green tea helps reducing the risk of cancer and also protects you from tooth decay. Green tea is the potent source of antioxidant like epigallocatechin gallate. Research found that EGCG benefits in weight loss, cancer prevention etc. So, take one to two cups of coffee, tea or green tea per day to have a healthy life, don’t take too much amount of these three as you may suffer from various disorders of health.
