Drysol and Shaving: What You Need to Know for Sensitive Skin

It's generally not recommended to apply Drysol immediately after shaving your armpits. Here's why:

* Increased Irritation: Shaving can cause micro-abrasions and irritation on the skin. Applying Drysol, which contains aluminum chloride, on irritated skin can lead to significant burning, itching, redness, and even inflammation.

* Increased Absorption: Shaving removes the top layer of dead skin cells, making the skin more permeable and potentially increasing the absorption of aluminum chloride. This could increase the risk of side effects.

Recommendations:

* Wait at least 24-48 hours after shaving before applying Drysol. This allows the skin to heal and reduces the risk of irritation.

* Apply Drysol at night. The sweat glands are less active at night, which allows the medication to work more effectively.

* Wash off Drysol in the morning.

If you experience irritation:

* Stop using Drysol immediately.

* Apply a mild moisturizer to the affected area.

* If the irritation is severe or persists, consult a doctor or dermatologist.
