Effective Home Remedies for Hand Rashes: Relief & Healing

1. Oatmeal Baths:

This is one of the most recommended home remedies for rashes on hands. Simply add 2 cups of oatmeal into a bathtub full of cool water. Sit in this water for half an hour and rinse the rashes in plain water (do not scrub hard).

2. Baking Soda:

Using water or vinegar, make a thick paste of baking soda. Now dab it on the rashes using a clean cotton ball. Keep the paste on the rashes until all the water evaporates and the paste dries completely. Wash off gently with plain water.

3. Cornstarch:

Just like baking soda, make a paste and apply. Wash off when the paste hardens. Cornstarch helps in drying the skin, which controls and reduces the rashes.

4. Herbal Poultice:

Herbal poultices help in reducing rashes by increasing blood flow and drawing out toxins and pus. Grind the herbs with warm water. In a clean muslin sheet, place this paste and tie up. Place this poultice on the rashes and secure with a safety pin.

5. Cool Compress:

Cool compress gives immediate relief if your rashes are itchy. Simply douse a piece of clean cloth in ice-cold water and apply it to the rash.

6. Aloe Vera:

Aloe Vera has anti-bacterial properties. So applying aloe vera gel on rashes helps to cure it. Use all natural gel made from aloe pulp and cold water for best results.

7. Olive Oil:

Olive oil has therapeutic properties that help in reducing rashes and microbial skin infections. In fact, olive oil is also used to cure psoriasis, eczema and diaper rashes too.

8. Oranges:

Vitamin C helps in curbing the rashes and healing them quickly. Add plenty of citrus fruits like oranges in your diet to get a good dose of Vitamin C every day.

9. Avocados:

Avocado is a rich source of Vitamin E that effectively cures skin rashes. So have plenty of foods containing high amounts of Vitamin E. You may also add spinach, tofu, almonds, and shrimps to your diet.

10. Cod Liver Oil:

Cod liver oil works well with fungal rashes. First, wash off the area with water. Use a Q-tip to dip into cod liver oil and dab onto the affected area.

11. Cucumbers:

Slice a cucumber in half lengthwise and carve out the seeds using a spoon. Grind this into a pulp and apply on the rashes in thick layers. Keep it on for half an hour and then wash off.

12. Talcum Powder:

Talcum powder works in the same way as cornstarch and baking powder. Simply sprinkle talcum powder on the rashes generously. Keep it on for half an hour and then rinse with clean water.

13. Chamomile:

Make chamomile tea by boiling a cup of water and steeping a teaspoon of chamomile flowers in it. Cool the tea concoction and dip your hands in it. Soak your hands for 10 minutes and then rinse.

14. Coconut Oil:

Apply coconut oil daily to reduce all sorts of rashes or even burns. Use clean Q-tips to apply it or you can even apply with your finger. Just make sure that you wash your hand before and after the application.

15. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar brings great relief to rashes due to its organic acid nature. It reduces itching too. Dab it on the rash with a cotton ball soaked in apple cider vinegar.

16. Juniper Berries:

Juniper berries have great volatile, anti-inflammatory chemicals. To use it melt some butter and a lump of beeswax together. Add ground juniper berries and cloves to the wax-butter mixture and mix well. Apply this mixture to the rashes.

Basil contains a topical anaesthetic called eugenol while mint has been used in ancient Chinese medicine as an anti-itching remedy. So make a paste of the herbs with water and apply on the rashes.

18. Vaseline:

If your rashes are caused by allergens, it is best to keep them covered in a layer of petroleum jelly, so that they don’t come in contact with more allergen. Apart from that, the petroleum jelly also makes sure that there is no microbial or bacterial contamination by keeping the rashes covered.
