QuestionHi
I am a 52 year old guy, 5'7". 250 lbs. I have always had a very slow metabolism so I eat like a bird to not gain weight, although I am clinicly obese. I also have very bad digestion.
For two weeks I have cut my caloriesto 1000, but not losing any weight. Is this putting me in constant starvation mode? I am cold all the time but last checkup my doctor said my thyroid and everthing else was OK.
What if I increased my calores to 1300 and increased my exercise to one hour?
I have seen some discussions where 1300 is the magic number.
Thanks!
AnswerDid you have your RMR (resting metabolic rate) taken, or are you just guessing about your metabolism being slow? I can say that your metabolic rate is most likely slower then it was 10 years ago, but how slow is what is important. One thousand calories a day is definitely contributing to slowing your metabolism. After you have determined what your true RR is then you will know how much calories your body is using without any exercise, then you can gage how many calories you can eat.
