QuestionI have a beautiful 14K yellow gold sailboat with two Larimar stones set onto the gold as sails for the boat. I bought this in a little jewelry shop in Sosoua in the Dominican Republic about 19 years ago. I used to wear it in the ocean and sometimes shower with it on. I no longer do this as through the years the small stone has fallen out several times(I've been extremely lucky not to have lost it at this point!)while the large stone has never fallen out! There are two gold prongs along the edge of each stone, but these appear not to do much in the way of holding the stone in.
For the last ten years I have been using a marine adhesive sealant made by 3M to glue the small stone back in place. Yesterday as I was wiping down the chain and sailboat with a mixture of alcohol and water, the small stone fell out again. I noticed that the adhesive was soft and mushy, I guess it had broken down. My watchmaker buddy suggested using instant Krazy glue and I wanted to know your opinion as to the best glue to use. Thanks for your expert advise! Norm
AnswerSorry to take so long... there is a very good glue for glass and cabs called E 6000....
I think that is correct but what you need to do is to call
Rio Grande catalog... they are located in Albuquerque New Mexico
you can find them by googling them... they have a large selection of glue and they have
very knowledgeable people in that department...
please let me know if you cannot get in touch with them..
