Safe Supplementation During Early Pregnancy: A Doctor's Perspective

Question
I just discovered I am pregnant (5 weeks) with my first child.  My prenatal vitamin was not agreeing with me so I stopped taking it.  Instead, I take a One A Day multivitamin and in addition to this I take the following: 400mcg Folic Acid, 27 mg Iron, 600 mg Calcium (w/ 125 IU Vitamin D) and 1000mg Fish Oil.  I take the addition Folic Acid with breakfast, Iron with lunch and the rest with dinner.  Is any of this harmful?  I'm concerned because the prenatal did not have a lot of what the multivatim has.  Am I missing any important elements?  Thanks

Answer
You should discuss this with your Dr. or Pharmacist.  I am concerned you are doubling up on some of these vitamins, that may not be good.
Sometimes women have to take Flinstones because there body just won't tolerate the rest.  I took a multivitamin that you take twice a day, it was prescribed, it worked well.
Good luck and Congrats!
