Question It is the perineun NOT the vulva affected by the way - big difference. I stated the medications as I thought it would be important for you to know I was supplementing these hormones. I have seen MANY dermatologists and seem to fall into the cracks with these folks...none seem to want to deal w/the hair loss issue or find it important & they refer me to a gyno re: the perineum issue.

Hello Dr. "R"
First day of LMP was 5-25-06 Age 46/White/No Kids
BCP's intermittent since age 17. Last on BCP's age 40. Currently since May '05 Armour Thyroid 70 mg/Aldactone 50 mg/Estradiol 2 mg/Progesterone vaginally days 15-30. Issues/Questions: Seborrhea/itch/inflammation of the perineum that will not go away-waxing/waning past 3 years-NOTHING HELPS. Seborrhea of the scalp which has caused major intermittent hair loss when present.
With current Seborrhea episode both nipples are now VERY itchy/inflamed. What is this? This is a new dimension to my medical issues. Saw my OB
last week - she said visually the perineun does not fit the "look" of lichen sclerosus and it normally affects the vagina. Pap smear good.
Mammogram good. TSH 1.66/Ferritin 46/Estradiol low at 54 on day 24/Progesterone high normal/LH & FSH in normal range for my age. I am not indicating menopause yet. Yet I wonder why my hair is falling/seborrhea keeps attacking.
Please-your advice regarding my hormonal regime and the perineum issue. Prior to Estradiol therapy I had bad insomnia and mind fog. All better except for hair/seborrhea. Menstrual cycle has shortened to 2 days long - 28 days apart. No PMS.
Any suggestions?
Thank you-
Libby

AnswerThe vulva includes the perineum, the labia majora, the labia minora, the area of the pubic symphysis. They are all skin and should be evaluated by a dermatologist. Did the dermatologists evaluate your perineum and your breasts? You still have not stated the reason you started those specific medications? It is very important to know the reason for starting that specific regimen. Why did you start those medications as opposed to others?
