Genital Rashes and Potential Herpes: What to Do

Question
I have been experiencing what I believed to be genetial Herpes for the past year. I have had about four "breakouts" in the year.  They always seem to begin about a day after rough intercourse where the skin on my genetials has been torn on the sides and between the opening and the anus. They start out with just the skin on my genetials being extremely itchy (it is usually accompanied by a yeast infection) then, a very slight tenderness in my right groin area and the torn skin becomes very irritated and painful.  It seems that the irritation spreads, and it appears that there are sores on my genetials. All of this is also accompanied with a semi foul odor, slightly fishy but more stale and stagnant smelling. It is very uncomfortable and last for about a week. The skin on my genetails is very sensitive and tears VERY easity, I do not know why this is. I went to planned parenthood and had a full gyno checkup and an STD test for all STD's.  This was during a "breakout" she said she couldn't tell be looking, so she took a sample from the sore and a blood test. All my tests came out negitave, for everything, except a yeast infection! Maybe I am overly cautious, but I am sure that all of these symptoms are not normal!  Should I have a second opinion?  What do you think?

Answer
AD,

It sounds like to me that the pain and irritation you've been experiencing are due to rough sex and not a sexually transmitted disease. Yeast infections will cause the odor you described and itching. (Skin irritation from rough sex might also cause some itching.) If I were in your shoes, I would seek a second opinion if I experienced the symptoms after regular/non-rough sex.
