QuestionQUESTION: Hi, my name is vanessa. Last year around march I started using nuva ring and I stopped using around summer time. After that I have been trying to concieve with my boyfriend and havent gotten pregnant and I even had sex the days I was ovulating. One of the effects of nuvaring said it was temporary infertility after treatment and im scared I wont be able to have kids anymore. I have a son who was born in 2008. Now im scared I wont be able to have kids wit my current boyfriend. Please help me.
ANSWER: Hello Vanessa from the U.S.,
The Nuva ring should have NO effect on your fertility once it is removed. So, you don't need to worry that you are infertile because you used it. Something else is going on and without doing an infertility evaluation, it is unknown at this time. It could be a problem with your boyfriend, for example. If you have been trying for at least one year or six months (if you are over 35 years old), then you should see an infertility specialist to undergo an evaluation.
If you refer to my blog, I have written extensively about the infertility evaluation and what sort of problems can occur.

QUESTION: I appreciate your answer. It's good to know that the nuvaring has no effect. Just to inform you im trying to get pregnant a second time and I will turn 20 in june and my boyfriens will turn 22 this april. Could I be the reason why im not getting pregnant or is it because his sperm isnt strong enough or something? He never had a baby before. So im just curious as to why im not concieving when we have unprotected sex on a daily basis.
AnswerHello Again,
In order to answer your question, you would need to undergo an infertility evaluation to check each of the steps your body goes through to achieve a pregnancy. There are about 9 tests, which includes testing your boyfriend. Without that, the question cannot be answered.
