Questionrecently i have felt a burning/stinging sensation when i try to have intercourse. i sometimes (though rarely) experience a similar sensation when i urinate...
i was wondering if it could be a yeast infection, im sure it isnt a UTI, but again, i havent checked to make sure.
how can i find out for sure what it is and how can i go about getting rid of it?
thank you.
Answerkathy;
well this could be one or both of them at the same time.
both rectum and the vagina are prefect incubators for bacteria that all too easily find their way to the nearby uretha,the exit tube for urine. and since the female urethra is not very long,it provides an easy route for the bacteria to invade the bladder,causing cystitis.
depending on the cause,there are a few keys to getting rid of that burniing senation. eliminate the bacteria that cause infections or avoid the irritants. these tips will help you do just that;
-flood your bladder-drink two eight-ounce glasses of water. then dissolve one teaspoon baking soda in four ounces water and drink that. then,for the next six to eight hours,drink eight ounces of water every hour. consult your doctor if the symptom is not relieved after a day.
[what your doing is diluting your bacteria-filled urinary tract and forcing yourself to urinate,rather than holding it in,which prolongs the infection. oftentimes the water is enough to flush out any bacteria.]
-see the doctor-if the burning remains after a day,you should see the doctor. the doctor also will check for a yeast infection as well.
-dont feed the burn-many foods and drinks can irritate the burning. these include,coffee,tea,alcohol,cranberry juice,
chocolate,all citrus fruits,spicy food;
i hope this helps.
