Alopecia Areata: Causes, Treatments, and What to Expect

Question
I have a friend who suffers from alopecia areata. is there any cure or treatment that's really effective? pls let me know. thanks.

Answer
kate;

alopecia areata is classified as an autoimmune disease,but its exact cause is unknown. in fact,people who develop this type of baldness are generally in good health. a family history of alopecia areata makes you more likely to develop it;

unlike female-pattern baldness or male-pattern baldness[androgenetic alopecia],the hair will generally grow back,but it may take several years. other causes of temporary hair loss includes;
-diabetes,lupus and thyroid discorders
-poor nutrition
-medications
-medical treatments
-recent high fever,severe infection or surgery
-childbirth
-over use of hair treatments
-scalp infections

a complete depends on the causes. if an underlying condition is found,effects will be made to cure or control that condition. in some cases,you may have to let time take its course.

i really cant give you a treatment plan at this time,due to the fact i dont know the underlying condition;

heres a web site,to help;

national alopecia areata foundation
www.naaf.org

i wish you luck;
god bless;
