QuestionI have gained 9 pounds in 2 days.
I am a healthy woman in my 60s. I normally eat about 1400-1500 calories a day, when I eat all meals at home. Even when I eat a meal out, about once a week usually, I try to keep total calories below 2000. I don't drink alcohol.
When I went in for my annual checkup two days ago, my weight was 132, which is normal for me. Blood work and unalysis were normal. I had a celebratory hamburger and hot fudge sundae for lunch, and bigger ndinner than usual, total calories for the day probably 2500-3000.
Yesterday I went out for dinner to celebrate a friends birthday and had another big meal, with dessert. Total calories for the day, around 2000- 2500.
When I weighed myself today, I expected moderate weight gain. I was stunned when the scales read 141. I checked the scales with a 100-lb bag of dog food. They are accurate. I then tried on the same clothes I wore to the checkup and they still fit as usual.
What is going on? I don't belive this has anything to do with retaining water as I do not show any swelling in my feet, legs or ankles.
Also, what can I do about this?
Thanks
Jo
AnswerIt seems like you weighed on two separate scales... the one at the office may be off.... weigh consistently on your scale and it should at least accurately reflect changes....
it is unlikely you gained that much weight in 2 days unless you stopped urinating, defecating and have hugely swollen legs.
Stop by your doctor's office and reweigh also!!
