Understanding Blood Work & Diet: A Personal Journey to Health

Question
Where to begin.... I'm 32, 5'6" and 145

Ok I'll start w/ the fact that I've always been the opposite of anemic, to the point where I'm supposed to donate blood as much as possible.
Secondly, with the help of Zocor ( we worked on my diet, but I've got my "family" liver) and so a statin it was.  My numbers got to the point where my dr., Melanie, said my HDL was only 2nd BEST she's seen in all her yrs, 93.  My LDL went down to 87.  GO ZOCOR!

ALL OF A SUDDEN....... ( just had blood drawn 4 mos ago) the following results come back:

Iron = THIRTY-FOUR!
HDL = 85
LDL =  133

And my Vit D level was 23  (common I know)

The assistant didn't even tell me the mgs of the supplements.... just to take iron and Vit D.  what would you recommend?  I don't see Melanie til 6/14

I was wondering if you could help me figure out why.
Can it be something wrong w/ my liver?
I'm not sure what info to give you to help you figure it out, but ask anything and I'll answer thoroughly.

I'm on a lot of medication, but it's never affected me before and there are no new meds.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you in advance!

Answer
if you aren't anemic, just low serum iron, just take a multivitamin with iron.... you don't need a lot... you may be just depleting your stores, not getting to the point where you are anemic.... probaby from menstrual blood loss.

Yeah, everyone should be on Vit D3... at least 2000 IU daily.... for me, I forget some days so I take 5000 IU daily.

Nothing wrong with your liver either!

Thanks....
