Cough After Radiation Therapy: Causes and Relief

Question
With a history of chronic cough (Pulmonary Dr. has treated with Nasacort, Allegra-D, Singulair for allergy and Omeprarole for recently discovered hiatal hernia), I was pleased when it disappeared totally with above meds.  The Singular was discontinued three weeks ago in an effort to reduce meds and determine which are still necessary.  Have had 7 out of 33 radiation treatments for breast cancer (successful lumpectomy, no lymph node involvement determined by sentinel node biopsy).  The cough, with no other cold symptoms, returned approximately one week ago and has gotten progressively worse.  Should I add back the Singulair?  Surely the cough can't be due to the radiation treatments since they only began 1 1/2 weeks ago?  Will be adding Arimidex to the mix in March after last radiation.  Your thoughts please!

Answer
I agree that it is unlikely that your cough has anything to do with either your radiation therapy or your breast cancer. However that statement also puts it outside my area of expertise here since as by my contract I'm here ONLY as a cancer dr.! I strongly do suggest that you discuss this with your pulmonary dr.!
