Liver Tumors & Birth Control Pills: A Patient's Experience & Questions

I recently had surgery to remove three tumors on my liver.  The scary part was that one of them had ruptured, causing internal bleeding.  The surgeons all said the tumors were a side effect of the pill.  I am 31 and have been on the pill 12 years.  I do not smoke or drink alcohol; I am normal weight and excersie regularly.
I have two questions:
1.  Should my gyno have been testing my liver through blood work at yearly visits?
2.  I know that this is a rare side effect, but have you heard of this happening to other women?

I have never heard of gyno's testing a persons liver. Your general doctor might have tested your liver if your family has a history of liver trouble. I have never heard of this happening to someone. I suggest that you talk to your gyno and possibly get another opinion from another general doctor.
