Nuva Ring and Hair Loss: A Possible Connection?

hello,  I am 46 years old and am in the middle of my fourth month of the nuva ring.  I was experiencing some mild hair loss over the last year off and on, but I was just finishing a divorce.  Then on the Nuva ring I have doubled the hair loss I have experienced, especially after I shampoo.  I counted my hair and in the last two days I have lost around 100 hairs and today already 80.  I scared to take the ring out and worrry that I might have more hair loss if I do.  Should I go on another birth control pill.  Please help.  Thanks.  Dawn

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor so I advise you to check with your physician about your question and any medical questions. I have read stories and heard from other women who have had side effects from the Nuva Ring. Your reaction about the hair loss seems severe and that is why I think you should talk to your doctor. Research other methods of birth control but especially any hormonal methods. The only methods that are non-hormonal are Natural Family Planning and condoms (which are not failure-proof).
