QuestionDear Dr Solberg
Thank you for your help in advance
I am a 28 years old nullipara woman. 2 months before, I consumed morning after Oral contraception pills following having sex two times apart with my husband to prevent unwanted pregnancy during that month. After that, my menstruation delayed for 10 days with a very little bleeding than usual which continued for 10 days.
Know, in the second month, my mense has delayed for more than 12 days while my menstruation cycle was regular before, lasting approximately 30 days.
Is this irregularity a usual side effect of the pills and would it be continue for the next months? What is the treatment?
Is pregnancy suspected while we use condom?
Thank for your reply
AnswerHi Mini,
The morning after pill can affect the following period, but I don't think it will affect periods after that. So I suspect something else has caused your period to be delayed. This could be from stress, weight change, or possibly pregnancy. If you think pregnancy is possible I'd get a pregnancy test. As long as you're not pregnant, no treatment may be necessary, and your periods may return to normal on their own. If not there are various treatments. You'd need some evaluation and discussion to determine the best treatment for you. Best of luck.
