Impact of Delayed Pill Start on Contraceptive Effectiveness

Question
Hello :)

I have been on a Monday start with the pill (combination) for about 8 months. Last month, I picked up my new pack too late and had to start on that Tuesday instead of Monday. Instead of treating this like a missed pill, I took only one pill on Tuesday and played out the rest of the month as if I had a Tuesday start. I waited 7 days before having sex.
Instead of allowing a week in between last month's pills and this month's, I started up the new pack of active pills on Tuesday, so that I could avoid my period. I am nearly finished with the second week of this pill pack.

Was this the right way to go about my accidental late start?

By waiting the 7 days before having unprotected sex, were my chances of protection still decent?

Am I protected this month from pregnancy? This month was my second Tuesday start after 8 months of Monday starts.

Does the pill protect me through out the entire month, including the week of placebo pills?

If I skip this placebo week, and move straight away to the new pack, am I still equally as protected?

Thanks so much for your time. I have not been able to find clear, consistent answers-even from the Pharmacist!-and it's been stressful. I really appreciate it!!!

Answer
Hello,
I think your chances of protection were still decent.  In general, as long as you don't wait more than 7 days between active pills, you're protected throughout the month, whether you are on the active pills for 21 days or several months.  Since you did go 8 days between active pills, you increase your chance of pregnancy, but it's still low.  By waiting 7 days before unprotected sex I think you're fine.  If you want to get back to a Monday start, you could take your last pill on a Sunday rather than Monday (having one pill left over for possible future use).  I hope this is helpful.
