QuestionI am using the Nuvaring for the first time and put it in a week ago. My doctor had told me to wait to the first sunday AFTER my next period to put it it. After reading the instructions I realized that was wrong and I should have put it in on the first day of the cycle. So it was already day 9 when I put in the ring.
Yesterday I had sex (on day 16 of my cycle), and now I am afraid that it was completely unprotected because I put the ring in too late in the cycle and it haden't even been in for a full 7 days.
I already have Plan B contraceptive pills here. They were prescribed to me a couple of months ago and I was given 2 sets, one for now (which I took) and another one in case of a future emergency (such as now, I guess, and I still have them).
My question is now: Can I take Plan B on top of the Nuvaring which I am still wearing without risk to my health? Will it be effective at all? Should I take the ring out and take Plan B or leave it in?

Since I'm not a medical professional, I really can't tell you this answer. This is a very serious problem and you need to talk to your doctor.
I don't recommend Plan B. I have researched this and found out a lot.
There is an article on it, also called "Morning after pill" at http://www.optionline.org which is very informative. I also don't recommend the Nuvaring because of hormones, side effects and long term risks. I've done a lot of research on this also. I guess I really lean towards natural and non-hormonal birth control methods. I believe natural is the safest and the way our bodies are created.
