Post-Abortion Pill Concerns: Seeking Peace of Mind After Medication

Question
QUESTION: Hi

Im so confused and frightened.... I took the abortion pill awakes ago, and followed instructions very carefully.  I bled that day just like a heavy period, some cramps and headaches, since then, i had booked a holiday to new York, and I am just home, and I worried the whole time I was there, about bleeding and clots.

To rest my mind I decided to go to hospital today to get checked and scanned, just for own peace of mind...  Thinking the pills had worked correctly, I learnt that I was still pregnant, I'm devasted, upset, worried, everything.  I have just read some things on the Internet that this is dangerous if the pregency continues.  I'm frightened to go ans tell the hospital what I have done, But I don't want to get sick and damage myself.... And I don't know what to do!!!!

i  have two children at present, and at the minute, i feel lost and alone...

What can I do?? should I tell the hospital????

ANSWER: Dear Kelly,
If you are in New York, I can see you.  See my website: earlyabortionoptions.com.  I am seeing patients tomorrow if you want to schedule an appointment.

You do not want to continue the pregnancy as there are significant defects that can happen.  It sounds like you were very early, so it is just a matter of either repeating the pills, or getting a procedure.  We can help you with this, or you can call the place that gave you the original pills.  It is unlikely that a hospital can help you.

This will all work out fine.  Let me know what you decide.

QUESTION: Hi Joan,

Just back from New york three days ago, and thank you so much for replying to me.  I would of gladly came to see you :)

Myself and My boyfriend, have five children between the two of us, and Ive been studying and in my final year Of Accountacy.  It just seemed the right choice at the time, and we both talked about everything to do with the pill.

Now, both of us are so upset, and wished that if we had of knew that the pill would not have worked, our decision to take it, would have been different.

im worried and stressed, that i might get sick!! And I wonder why have didnt pass clot and heavy bleeding, will that still happed at this stage???  If I told the hospital, would they give me a D and C operation????

Totally feel frightend about the whole situation Joan

Answer
Dear Kelly,
Where did you get the original pill services?  This is not an uncommon thing to happen, and they should have prepared you for this possible outcome.  You should have had a routine follow up.  In any case, they should be able to help you with this.  Sometimes it is as simple as just repeating the second set of pills.  Otherwise, you can get a procedure. I know you are frightened, but this should be fairly straightforward, unless you are concerned about the medical care you would receive at the office where you got your original care.
Let me know what you think,
