Hello, i just had an abortion 2weeks ago, the baby was (7 and a half weeks old) the procedure was rather too quick for me, it only took half an other, i didn't feel much pain,i had my 1st bleeding 2days later and and stopped after 9days and then continued again 3days. i was not given any medication to take after the abortion. please i wanted to know if that is normal or i need to call the people to ask..

There is usually no medication other than an antibiotic that you will have to take before or after an abortion. If you had been given an antibiotic before the abortion, then sometimes the doctor will decide that you don't need a whole course of antibiotics after, rather, they will just give you a single strong dose at the clinic just after the abortion.

If you were not given any antibiotics at all, then you can sue your clinic for negligent practices. This could be a very serious matter.

Otherwise your abortion sounds completely normal. Surgical abortions rarely last more than 10 minutes for the actual procedure, plus 20 minutes prep time (pain killers, antibiotics, etc). Your bleeding pattern also sounds normal. Did you have a fever at any time in the 48 hours immediately after the abortion? If so, you may have had an infection.

Usually doctors will schedule a checkup 2 weeks after the procedure to make sure the abortion was complete, and to see if there were any infections or other complications. If you do not have a 2 week checkup scheduled, you should make this appointment yourself right away. It's very important.

Until the appointment, do not have sex or insert anything at all into your vagina (like tampons, douches etc). You should not go swimming or take baths (showers are OK). Just don't let anything get into the vagina for 2 weeks because in this time there is a high risk of getting an infection. After the checkup you can resume your normal activities, but be sure to use reliable contraception, because you can be fertile almost immediately after an abortion. Women can ovulate anytime between 2-10 weeks after the abortion, and even after the first ovulation, the next few ovulations are completely unpredictable. You could easily become pregnant again if you don't use contraception.
