QuestionI recently got acrylic nails done with a UV shiny top coat.
In the long run what I'm interested in is just the shiny coat. I want to be able to apply my own nail polish and then create a super shiny effect and make the polish last as long as possible.
I've been reading up on UV lights but I'm confused about the difference between UV Gel and UV top coat.
If I plan to do this at home in the future what tools do I need and do I need UV Gel or just UV top coat.
How powerful does the UV light need to be Watts wise?
AnswerDear Jasmin,
In answer to the first question "What is the difference between uv gel and uv top coat", the differences are this:
Uv Gel is exactly that, a thick viscosity gel, used to build nail enhancments (similar to hair gel viscosity). There is no powder used, and it's used in place of Acrylic.
Uv Top coat or Gloss is just that. A top coat. It's applied over Gel or Acrylic to add a permanent shine, and to help prevent cheap acrylics from yellowing.
With regards to assisting you in finding the right products to use at home, I regre I must decline.
These systems are for the use of professionals only, for a reason. Knowledge of the chemistry is a must to avoid over-exposure and other issues.
I urge you to take a course instead.
Best regards
