Understanding Skin Types: A Comprehensive Guide

There isn't a universally accepted "four main skin types" categorization. However, skin is often classified into five main types based on oil production and moisture levels:

1. Normal Skin: This type has a good balance of oil and moisture, appearing smooth, soft, and free of blemishes.

2. Dry Skin: Dry skin lacks sufficient oil production, leading to a tight, rough, and flaky appearance. It's prone to irritation and fine lines.

3. Oily Skin: Oily skin produces excess sebum, making it appear shiny, prone to breakouts, and often has large pores.

4. Combination Skin: Combination skin exhibits both oily and dry areas, usually with an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and drier cheeks and other areas.

5. Sensitive Skin: Sensitive skin reacts easily to external irritants and may experience redness, itching, burning, or dryness.

It's important to note that this is a simplified classification, and many people have unique skin characteristics. Additionally, your skin type can change over time due to factors like age, climate, and lifestyle.
