Lip Acne: Causes, Treatments & When to See a Doctor

Question
i have been getting pimples on my upper lip. n i read on other websites that is common in adults n due to the use of vaseline as a lip balm.any thoughts on that?

Answer
Dear goh~

I'm wondering if what you're describing is a rash or pimples?  If it's a rash a cortizone cream, applied nightly should clear it up rather quickly.  There are any number of brands you can buy at a drugstore.  If it's pimples, you could try using a drying agent such as hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol or Sea Breeze nightly to dry them and help them go away.  Use a cotton ball to apply any of these solutions.

Also, touching your face excessively will cause breakouts due to the bacteria transfer from hands to face.  Try to avoid doing this if it happens to be a habit for you.

Finally, be sure to apply the lip balm only to you lips and not around your mouth.  Depending on the type of balm you're using, it could contain a pore clogging waxes or other ingredients which may be causing your breakout.  Keeping the balm only on the lips should remedy this problem.

Best of luck, goh!
