QuestionI just got my hair cut 2-3 inches to get rid of the dry, brittle ends. My hair was to the middle of my back and now its just below my shoulder blades. I love the healthy look, feel, and fullness, and now i want to grow my hair longer than it originally was. How can i make it grow faster? I dont style it anymore. Im waiting until my hair is to the desired length i would like. I already use coconut oil once a week and i use tresme moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Anymore ideas? Id like it back to the middle of my back by the time school starts in August.
And I'd like to have home remedies. I dont want to buy products. I also take fish oil and a womens vitamin with 300mcg of biotin
AnswerHi Sarah,
The things you are doing so far are great. But, I want you to understand how important it is to have realistic hair goals. I don't want you to get so stressed out about wanting your hair to be a certain length by August, and because of this stress, it slows down your hair growth. So, let's focus on keeping your hair healthy and maintaining moisture in your hair so that you will see the growth. Since you have nice healthy ends now, you'll want to keep them that way. The better moisturized your ends are, the less trims you'll have to receive. Here are a couple of treatments you can try at home that will help promote hair growth.
1.Before shampoo, massage flax seed oil or olive oil into your scalp. This will stimulate blood circulation which helps with hair growth.
2.Apply oil to ends for moisture (as hair grows longer its harder for moisture to travel to the ends of the hair so you have to be conscience and treat them).
3.Wrap hair in a plastic cap and leave for 30 minutes.
4.Shampoo out and style as usual.
-This is a treatment that I like to do that cleanses the scalp. Sometimes the scalp can have buildup which prevents new hair from coming through.
1.Before shampoo, massage aloe vera to your scalp.
2.Shampoo out and style as usual.
These treatments can be done once a week. You can alternate between the two. To achieve your desired results takes consistency and patience.
Not only should you take care of your hair but it's just as important to take care of your body. Make sure you are eating a balanced diet. get plenty of sleep and rest. And like I said before, no stress. Also, keep styling to a minimum, use very little heat, and no harsh sprays and gels. Other than that, as long as you care for your hair properly and be consistent, you will see growth.
