Keratin Treatment & Hair Loss: Causes & Risks

I wanted to get the keratin hair straightening treatment but I heard stories of people who experienced severe hair loss after 2 weeks or so. Are there any other causes for this except the flat ironing and formaldehyde?? I don't blow dry my hair and don't intend to use flat iron so much after the treatment either.

 Done properly you should not experience hair loss with this service. If anything, it should help the hair by bonding keratin to the hair to strengthen it. There are a few considerations, however. The hair should be dry before flat ironing, as ironing damp hair will cause severe damage. Also, if hair is more fragile before the treatment, the iron would (should) be set at a lower temperature. I have clients who get this service regularly and experience no issues. Just discuss your concerns with your stylist before proceeding.
