Pastel Nail Art Ideas: Spring & Summer Inspiration

Hey, ladies! With nails, each new season, we welcome new nail arts and shades. I mean look at this way, on that gloomy day you can transit not only your wardrobe but also your talons into the funkier season. Great, right? So after the new and beautiful shades from Kleancolor Nail Lacquers I have flocked to stores and online sites to get hold of their pastel nail polishes. They are brilliant and later prompted me to check my stash for not only pastel shades, but pastel nail art as well that I think we will see a lot in this season.

Talking about pastels, I think, most people immediately think of the hue when it comes to spring nail trend and I don’t blame them. They are beautiful, so dreamy and at the end of the day we are aware that no matter what, pastels will still be popular. But with new age, zillion Pinterest and Instagram posts, they are fast becoming modernized in new finishes and patterns that are a little funky and classy at the same time.

One such design is puzzle nail art that includes my favourite shades of soft peaches, blues, green, yellows, and, of course, mauve. A versatile art, this pastel puzzle print can be worn alone or layered and can be paired with any of your outfits. Pastel Puzzle Manicure DIY Ingredients:

• 4-5 pastel color nail paints or acrylic colors. I have used Kleancolor Nail Lacquers in different pastel color
• Tip Top Protein Base Coat
• A Base Colour of your choice
• Wax Paper
• Acetone
• Cotton swabs
• Black stripper pen.
• Black marker pen or sketch pen.

How To Create This Look:

• To recreate this look, first prep your nails by moisturising and buffing them square. Next, apply a base coat, like Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat. Now if you want, you can paint your nails with a base colour. I have skipped it though.

• For the next step, I have used a black marker pen (you can also use a sketch pen,) and drew puzzle pieces as shown in the picture above.

• Now comes the most interesting part, fill the puzzle pieces with different pastel shades just like the image above.
• When it completely dries off, use a black stripper nail art pen again and outline the puzzle pieces one last time to appear neat.
• Once done, use a cotton swab dipped in acetone to clean the colour off your fingers. I have used ULTA Maximum Strength 100% Pure Acetone Nail Polish.
  
• Finish the manicure with a couple of applications of a very thick clear top coat until the edges are sealed and the nail is smooth to the touch. I have used, Umbrella Oxygen Raincoat Top Coat as it has a UV filter too – perfect for my nails while I’m hitting a beach or going out for a lunch
• To remove the nail art, soak your nails in acetone for about 10-15 seconds.
• So, here you have the girly pastel puzzle nail print in its final form.
