*Tring Tring..Tring Tring*
Your friend calls. Or maybe it is your first date. Probably your family is going for a wedding. Or yes, it’s one of your besties’ birthday and you are all excited to attend the party!
Name the occasion, and you will have that matching set of cosmetics on your dressing table. You are so conscious about your beauty that most of the time you have your makeup on.
Okay. All that apart, let me come to the point. Did you ever feel you were a beauty maniac? I mean..err..not exactly a maniac, but someone overly obsessed with beauty?
‘Overly obsessed’ is a relative phrase. So how can you get to know if you are overly obsessed?
By going through the following.
Above that tender skin you have got lie thick cakes of cream and powder. Every square millimetre of your face is shrouded with thick makeup; sometimes so thick that it is a detergent bar, and not a body soap, that might be required to clean up your face.
You take bath once, it’s good. Twice, very good. If you do this thrice, mm, okay; it’s fine. Anything more than that, I don’t have anything else to say. You end up in the bathroom every half an hour, driving the soap bar all over you, making it smaller and smaller with each use.
Sun Protection Films are good. They protect you from the harmful ultraviolet radiation of the sun. And unlike popular belief, SPFs are equally important in winters too.
But if you consider your face to be a faded wall that requires SPF distemper, then sorry to say this, you indeed fall in the ‘overly obsessed’ category.
Every time you step out of your house, your arms are covered with lengthy gloves and it’s a scarf that plasters your face. Without this anti-sun gear, you cannot dare imagine to go out.
What if my makeup wears out? What if I don’t look pretty? What if people don’t like the way I look?
What if ..what if..
and a million other What Ifs that tie you to your makeup kit with a perpetual thread of obsession.
Yes, water is a wonder drink. It is the elixir of life and we need to have plenty of it. Drinking water also helps cleanse the skin and gives it that natural glow.
You begin every day with a bottle of water and end everyday with another one. And in between you have a dozen more bottles of water.
You probably have taken the above lines way too seriously, haven’t you?
Charlie Chaplin called a mirror his best friend. Why? Because when he cries, it doesn’t smile.
I know that is pretty much an insightful statement. And if you are one of those makeup enthusiasts who does nothing but spend countless hours before the mirror, touching and un-touching your face with brushes and pencils, then ahem, ..sorry, but you are a makeup maniac.
You know that people know about your long lived obsession with cosmetics. But still, that doesn’t satisfy you.
Showing off your makeup is your second nature. And you have plans of advertising your makeup knowledge on MTV.
You probably have a sibling. She probably is your twin. And you probably want to show off not just to the world outside, but also to her, that you are the one who looks the best with that makeup on.
Not all cosmetic products suit all. The same applies to you. Some might suit your skin, skin tone etc.; and some may not. But you don’t give a damn to all that. You don’t care how you might look with that particular cosmetic on.
You have decided, once and for all, that you ARE GOING TO don those colourful emulsions on your face.
And you do.
Powder is fine. Cream is okay. Lip gloss might be good. But all these would do more harm than good if you end up getting obsessed with them.
So tell me. How makeup obsessed are you?!
