Flawless Tan: Makeup Tips to Enhance Your Glow

Are you embarrassed by your pigmentation? Well, we have you covered!

As we know the hardest part about tanned skin is rocking a makeup that wouldn’t make you look darker, we decided that a makeup investigation was in order to make your skin seriously glow. Whether you are looking for the proper application of a concealer or a rosy blush, we list out ways to enhance your skin, and to bring out your amazing bone structure to boot

1. Face:

Primer:

Make your look stay longer by applying a primer, like L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer, that can create a smooth base for your foundation, prevents your makeup from creasing and that will brighten sallow skin.

Before applying a primer, moisturize your skin well, as it makes your primer application even. Two of our favorite moisturizers are Bioderma Sensibio Cream and Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer. Then with your fingertips or a BeautyBlender sponge, dab your primer in the middle of the face and work your way out subtly.

Foundation:

Find the right shade for your skin and swipe the foundation in the middle and work your way out. Ensure you don’t pile on heavy foundation, just the right amount of application and blend it gently all over to even out your skin. The oil-free Ysl Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation is the perfect option that will instantly glow your skin, and its smooth texture glides right on providing an even finish.

Concealer:

To counteract the stubborn blemishes under the eyes, apply a concealer along the tops of your cheekbones towards the tip of your eyebrows. It’s more or less like drawing a triangle. This shape not only conceals dark circles, but it also instantly help attract the light by bringing warmth to that area. Our pick, DiorSkin Sculpt Smoothing Lifting Concealer prevents the makeup from settling into the creases. It’s a win-win situation!

Highlighter:

There’s nothing we love more than a creamy highlighter that wears like a face polish. To give the illusion of larger eyes, apply the highlighter under your brow bone, a bit above the crease in your lids. Once done, pat a small dot in the middle of the apple of your cheeks. Then press the highlighter onto your forehead followed by your high plane of the face, chin.

Make sure your highlighter is about two shades lighter than your skin tone. We usually opt for the multi-purpose and gold-toned NARS The Multiple in Laguna that gives us a natural finish. It’s basically a silky facelift in a stick!

Bronzer:

Literally a staple diet for all beauty lovers, a bronzer can make your skin look fresh, glowy and sun-kissed even when the temperature is soaring high. For that perfect bronze look, we suggest go about two shades deeper than your tan colour, and make sure you don’t dust bronzer all over the face. To create a neat look, brush the Rimmel Natural Bronzer or MAC Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze on in a C formation. That means, start it at the temples and flick lightly along the sides of the face, forehead, nose, and chin for a more refined look.

Blush:

Once done applying the bronzer – which alone can appear dull – apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. Since the blush can brighten your complexion immediately, the combination of bronzer and blush works well to create a dewy look. We recommend Temptu AIR Pod Blush that works best as a blush and a lip stain, which leaves a lovely, natural flush lasting all day long.

2. Eyes:

To enhance your tan skin, opt for a golden hue eye shadow (try Topshop Cream Eye Shadow In Gold Mine) that can brighten eyes without being overly sparkly. Followed by this Estee Lauder in Copper Penny In Metallic Brown that is so sheer and blendable, it’s nearly impossible to overdo. Finish off the look by applying 3-4 coats of Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara, that’s perfect for daily wear.

3. Lips:

Before swiping your favourite lip shade, ensure you define the shape of your lips well. To achieve that look, place some concealer around the corners of your lips, on the Cupid’s bow, and under your lip to blend them evenly together. Now apply a dark or a reddish brown shade (like Clinique in Black Honey or MAC in Spice) that is versatile enough to work it through for both day and night.
