How to make your lipstick last long is one question that is quite often asked amongst friends when speaking of makeup and its longevity!!! And the answer you might hear would be that there are lot of long lasting lipsticks out in the market… and why don’t you try it!!!
But then it might or might not suit your budget. So why not look for another alternative to lipsticks? I would then say Lip Stains.. But it also could be possible that they might not be pocket friendly.
Instead, then lets look for options that could help you last your lipstick for long!!! For this you would need a lipstick of your choice, a lip liner in a close shade to your lipstick, a lip gloss in a complementing shade, a lip brush and some blotting tissue.
This article has been designed to emphasize on a specific lipstick application technique in order to make it last long. And so without any exaggeration, let me get to the steps directly:
Here, I included my before and after pictures. I haven’t applied any make up on my face, so please ignore my breakouts.
Always start off with exfoliated lips. Use a lip scrub. You can get that in any beauty store, else you can make it on your own with lemon juice, sugar and olive oil. Gently exfoliate to attain soft and supple lips.
Now apply a thin layer of chap stick or a lip balm. Here in this tutorial I used Burt’s Bees Lip balm.
*Optional* If you have pigmented lips like mine, try to use a concealer to hide the pigmentation. Make sure to get the lips to an even tone. However, if they turn lighter, don’t worry… because you are going to cover them up with the lipstick of your choice. Here I used MUA stick Concealer.
*Important* Take your lip liner which is of the same shade as your lipstick, draw the lip shape. Try giving your lips a well defined shape. Here I have used the lip liner from Maybelline in Choco pop.
Fill in the lips with the same pencil. This makes the color to settle in a defined manner.
Take a paper napkin and use it as blotting sheet to take off the extra color on the lips.
Now take the lipstick you want to apply. Start applying from the centre and keep applying it till the corners. Here I have used Maybelline moisture extreme lip color in dusty rose.
Once you are done, use the paper napkin and blot off the excess lipstick.
Apply a thin layer of lipstick again.
This time, use your lips to spread it evenly onto your lips.
Take a highlighter and try highlighting your cupid bow. This gives the lip a perfect look. I have used the eye shadow from MUA dusk till dawn palette.
Finally, Use some gloss over the lips. I have used miss sporty clear lip gloss.
Here, you go! With the perfect lips
