I got talking to a mum at my kid’s school who turned out to be a makeup artist. Oh Lordy be! I wanted to grill her mercilessly but there was no time. So I just asked her what would be the one thing she would buy (makeup I’m talking now, not like “food” or “a car”). She replied instantly and emphatically- Crème de la Mer Reparative Skintint. It makes skin look better and perfected without looking made up. Cue dash to the Crème de la Mer counter.
Here is the Crème de la Mer product info-
I bought it for my mother for a gift. I couldn’t justify spending that much on myself. But if you think about it, you get 40ml of Skintint in the tube. Normally you get 30ml of foundation in a bottle. And you really don’t need to use much Crème de la Mer Skintint to cover the face, so that £65 worth is going to last a long time. So you can sort of legitimise it.
What you need to know-
When I went to the Crème de la Mer counter to buy Skintint I was treated to a little Crème de la Mer facial. The lady cleansed, serumed and moisturised before colour matching. I was given the full Crème de la Mer works, next to that fish tank that they have. My face was like a new face. I had a nasty spot lurking on my chin that day, the next morning it was nearly entirely gone, Sorcery!
I’m not normally one for tinted moisturiser, being as oily as I am I need my base to have a bit of guts. But I really like the way Crème de la Mer Skintint makes my skin look. It gives a dewy warmth that doesn’t look greasy in the slightest. You just need the smallest amount and it blends easily using fingertips. Here’s the swatch of light/medium-
I found it did give a decent level of coverage, considering that Skintint isn’t a foundation.
Crème de la Mer Skintint has that “my skin but better” look that tinted moisturiser should deliver.
I think it’s obvious from the pictures that Skintint gives good coverage without looking like makeup. Skintint makes blemishes much less apparent, but my skin still looks like skin. I think light/medium is too warm for my neutral skin. My face is darker than my neck. There are two lighter shades than light/medium though.
I don’t know about this Marine Broth stuff, sounds like hokum to me. I did a bit of investigation- Crème de la Mer was created by a scientist called Max Huber to treat his own facial burns. The leaves of sea kelp are fermented for 3-4 months to create a “miracle broth”. Sea kelp is full of minerals and antioxidants and fermenting it improves it’s bioavailability. Apparently Max Huber concentrated on harnessing the skin’s electricity to create a substance designed to make skin heal. I would love to give La Mer’s skincare a thorough investigation (maybe when I win the lottery).
Are you a die hard La Mer fan? I’d love to hear your thoughts
